JEAN M AUEL (born 1936)

Jean M Auel is an American author who has influenced many writers of Historical Fiction.  Her extensive research has earned her great respect from not only authors but also from scientists in the fields of anthropology and archaeology.

This amazing woman was awarded the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in October 2008 by the Minister of Culture and Communication.  In addition to the MBA she earned in 1976 from the University of Portland, she holds four honorary degrees, as well.  She received them from Pacific University, Portland State University, University of Maine, and Mount Vernon College of Women.  LEARN MORE HERE

The first book in her Earth's Children series, CLAN OF THE CAVE BEAR, affected me deeply.  It fed my love of reading and encouraged my fascination with prehistory and historical fiction.  Her work led me to my own research and interest in the early religions.
